What Music is really 90's music?

Before BL's Sadie's many where wondering this. I mean it really ain't common knowledge which music could define the 90's. I mean it was a hole ten years for crying out loud. But, sadly all those who went to BL's Sadie's still don't know what music really defined that decade. They got the VH1 completely retrospect point of view. The DJ completely ignored the obvious numbers that was recorded in the music business during those ten years.
One would think that the most played song of the 90's oughta be played at a dance with a 90's theme. Sadly, that song wasn't played. What is that song? Is it something by the Spice Girls, N*Sync, or perhaps Britney Spears. If you guessed any of the above you couldn't be any further from the truth. In fact, the most played song of the 90's was "I Should of Been a Cowboy" by Tobey Keith. Why wasn't this song played. Perhaps because none of us lived in the mainstream in the 90's. No one would know what was truly "in" in the 90's. I mean we give kids crap about listening to the Jonas Brothers or Hannah Montana. So, perhaps teenagers gave us crap about liking N*Sync or the Backstreet Boys. Maybe, who knows. It's just a theory.
Another play at a 90's theme dance should be the artist who made the most money during the decade. Was he played? Once, again, no. But who was it? Garth Brooks. I mean if you think about it is a no brainer. But, then again we weren't mainstream in the 90's, so chances are that many of YOU wouldn't think of that.
Your probably wondering how I know this. The truth is it's common knowledge for anyone with my "label" (for lack of better word). I'm country when country isn't cool. Apparently it was cool in the 90's. You may think that country is cool now. But, what your listening to now more than likely ain't country. But, my friends that's a rant for another day. But, my point is that the 90's was country.
